Kosher is generally defined as (1) pure (in food), (2) proper, genuine, authentic, or legitimate.
As a senior citizen and in my opinion, we do not have a Kosher Congress in Washington right now. We have almost total gridlock in our national legislative body, strangling debt, and America is fast going into a sinkhole. Continue reading Kosher Congress
There’s been a lot of discussion lately concerning the power and influence of the wealthy in America. One of many old sayings is, “It takes money to make money.” There are several ways in which this is true and one of them is money can buy you political favors that could easily result in you making even more money.
That seems to be the case with the major political donors of Texas Governor, Rick Perry. The Daily Beast and the Los Angeles Times are both Continue reading What Big Donors Get in Texas
How is it possible that Iowans can permit same-sex marriage then turned around and pick Michelle Bachmann in their straw vote?
For several years I’ve waged an internal war between the forces of buying American made goods and trying to support mom and pop businesses versus buying whatever is most affordable, even if it means buying the import and/or going to Wal-Mart. Well, last week Sam Walton may have brought me to my knees Continue reading Okay Sam, UNCLE!
Did you know that there are several other declared candidates for president in 2012? Have you heard a lot about these candidates?
1. Gary Johnson – Lutheran, Pro-Choice (for the woman), who wants controlled immigration, construction business owner, and former governor of New Mexico, former Libertarian Republican, who wants to legalize marijuana. Continue reading Again – Just One
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the irony of Standard and Poor’s downgrading of the US credit rating? Wasn’t it S&P who, as a major player in the approval of toxic assets, helped tank the housing market along with many of the world’s major economies? Wasn’t it S&P who gave an AAA rating to all those infamous Wall Street derivatives that really weren’t worth a bottle of pirate piss? Is this the same S&P who some now say made a two trillion-dollar arithmetic error in their decision to downgrade America? I’m beginning to think that the S and P in S&P may be just common four-letter words.
The pernicious GOP has recently reeked havoc on our great country. They have shown themselves to be very anti-immigration and anti-compromise. The rating agency Standard & Poors reportedly blamed the GOP and their non-compromising standoff and obstructionism in the debt ceiling debate for the recent ratings downgrade.
The next election is, so far, like high school – no perfect prom date yet. Continue reading One Choice
Texas governor, Rick Perry, said today that there isn’t a day in which he doesn’t pray for President Obama. I’d like to be a fly on the wall of that chapel! 🙂
Well I can think of several names but some of the people at The Daily Beast think it is Continue reading Who’s Amercia’s most effective politician?
I recently read a post on Facebook that read, “the lower and middle classes need to stand up to the government.” The context of the statement was that the rich and powerful were too rich and powerful and affecting too much control on our economic and political systems.
Problem with the statement, to me, is that the lower and middle classes don’t really Continue reading Who’s middle-class?
In an earlier post I commented on the boondoggle taking place as a result of the Congressional Republicans refusing to approve funding to continue a significant number of airport renovation projects. Well, this evening it was announced that a “deal” had been worked out and the 74,000 workers who had been laid off will soon be back at work.
The tragedy is that the entire fight was over Republicans wanting to do away with subsidies to smaller airports amounting to $16 million a year. In doing so the government has been loosing $30 million dollars a day in lost tax revenue and other associated costs. Total unrecoverable revenue losses are in excess of $350 million dollars.
I hope nobody really questions why the American people have such a stunned look on their faces.
All last year we the people heard how the GOP was going to return America to prosperity with the creation of jobs. So, we the people bit the bullet and tossed a bunch of them into Congress. But, eight months later there are not more jobs. The economy is beginning to double tank and here in Highland County, Ohio it was just announced that the unemployment number has increased to over fourteen percent. We are now the fourth most unemployed county in the state. Continue reading Where are those jobs?
There should be a law requiring that when a politician accuses another politician of “playing politics” he/she should have a quarter-inch of their tongue cut off. Now that sounds like a Sharia law I could go for! 🙂
Anti-Sharia Bills Written by Hasidic Lawyer – The Daily Beast.
The threat of Sharia law superseding the US Constitution and over 200 years of constitutional precedent is such a non-issue it’s incredible that any state is giving it serious consideration. Of all the major social, educational, economic, and political issues facing every level of government in America, why are legislatures giving this the light of day?
My only conclusion is, it is fear driven legislation whose purpose is purely for political posturing.
In 1999 the US had a budget surplus and it was predicted that by 2009 we’d be debt free for the first time since Andrew Jackson’s administration. Well, after two terms of “W”, two major military engagements, several unfunded tax cuts, and Medicare Part B (unfunded entitlement expansion) we find ourselves on the brink of economic collapse. If that doesn’t deserve a WTF, nothing does!
