current naval power

FACTOID: Despite the claims of Mitt Romney the US now posses 50% of the world’s naval power as compared to 11% in 1916. You don’t measure naval strength in numbers of ships, you measure in terms of firepower. Today’s destroyer is many more times powerful than those common to the post WWII era. A single modern US Ohio class nuclear submarine, armed with fourteen Trident ballistic missiles, is more powerful than all the world’s navies combined, throughout history. President Obama was correct when he said we don’t fight with horses and bayonets today.
