Couple of weeks ago I was passing by the Eastgate area of Cincinnati and stopped to check out the progress at the new Jungle Jim’s International Market. The building has about 425,000 square feet and JJ’s will be occupying over half that for its own operations. The announced opening date is September 25, 2012 and they are expecting over 100,000 visitors during their first week of operation.
Mr. Jungle began business, so I’ve been told, selling produce out the back of a station wagon along Route 4 in Fairfield. Over the years Jim’s has turned into something worthy of a field trip for foodies, employing over 500 persons to serve the culinary needs of its weekly 80,000 customers.
The new store in Eastgate will be physically larger, serve more customers and employ over 300 persons in the beginning. Obviously I’m excited about this!
